Programme Overview
The Business Ideas Competition is an Inspire stage initiative. Open to all disciplines and experience levels, the competition invites participants to share their idea in a short written summary or a one-minute video pitch. No business plan is required – just a clear idea and the drive to explore its potential.
Entries are reviewed by a judging panel, with winners awarded cash prizes and recognition for their innovation and impact. All participants receive a digital certificate, along with opportunities to further develop their ideas through follow-on support and workshops. By taking part, you’ll gain experience in articulating your idea, receive recognition for your innovation, and take a first step towards turning your concept into reality.
Who is it for?
The competition is open to the entire University of Oxford community, including:
- Undergraduate and postgraduate students
- Researchers
- Staff
- Alumni (within 2 years of graduation)
No prior experience or business background is required.
How to apply
The competition runs once per term. To apply, simply submit either:
- A 250-word summary of your idea, or
- A one-minute video pitch.
Entries are submitted via an online form, with deadlines each term. Winners are announced shortly after judging, and all participants are invited to explore next steps through EnSpire’s wider programmes.
